New Order, Ian Brown, Arctic Monkeys, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Dave Grohl, Alan McGee, Michael Eavis), sammensat en liste over årtiets hundrede bedste albums. Listen indeholder nogle gode kendinge i blandt.
Men jeg tillader mig nu alligevel at spørge hvor er store navne som The Flaming Lips, Modest Mouse, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, Coldplay, Doves, Guillemots, Kings Of Leon, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Notwist, TV On The Radio og Wolf Parade?

When Flaming Lips released At War with the Mystics and after seeing their fantastic live show, I would never have thought that they wouldn’t be on my top 10 list of favorite album of 2006. But this proved to be the case after a year with a buck load of terrific albums with superb music.
My Latest Novel released at unique debut and it took me several considerations not to give it the top spot. But Black Holes And Revelations contained super summer hits for the whole year – even wintertime. An achievement which was impossible to overlook. Their personal mixture of indie rock, electronica, progressive rock and heavy metal really came into it’s own on this album.
The Decemberists takes indie pop even further wth The Crane Wife. Based on an old Japanese tale, the album is a huge ambitious project that succeeds in every way. This stuff really grows on you.
The Thermals, The Mondo Generator and Cursive RUBAR (Rock Us Beyond All Recognition) and takes no prisoners. (Yes, I have seen Saving Private Ryan recently.)
No more talking. Here they are, my favorite albums of 2006:
- Muse – Black Holes And Revelations
- My Latest Novel – Wolves
- The Decemberists – The Crane Wife
- The Thermals – The Body, the Blood, the Machine
- Tunng – Comments of the Inner Chorus
- The Mondo Generator – Dead Planet: SonicSlowMotionTrails
- Cursive – Happy Hollow
- Ratatat – Ratatat: Classics
- Guillemots – Through the Window Pane
- Band of Horses – Everything All the Time
The year 2006 wouldn’t be complete without listening to Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Show Your Bones, TV On The Radio – Return to Cookie Mountain, The Flaming Lips – At War With the Mystics, Swan Lake – Beast Moans, Annuals – Be He Me, Midlake – The Trials of van Occupanther, Loose Fur – Born Again in the USA
